The ski resort of Hlíðarfjall in Akureyri
The ski resort of Hlíðarfjall is in the North-East region of the country, just to the West of the town of Akureyri. It is located on the slopes of the mountain of the same name, which summits at 1300 meters above the fjord of Eyjafjordur. The resort of Hlíðarfjall can be accessed by plane from the capital Reykjavik and is situated between 476 and 950 meters above sea level. Although the resort is small, it has both cross-country skiing and downhill pistes. The resort offers 15 kilometers of skiing over 23 runs, served by 6 different lifts, allowing skiers and snowboarders plenty of opportunity to practice their favorite winter sport. The ski resorts of Isafjördur
The ski areas of Isafjördur are in the western fjords, 6 km from the town of Isafjördur. The first resort is Tungudalur and the second Seljalandsdalur. Tungudalur is one of the four biggest ski areas in the country and due to its great snow cover, is dedicated to the alpine skiing.
