Bootfitting: Adapt your ski boots to your feet
Ski boots are the link between the skier and their skis, therefore it’s very important to choose your ski boots carefully. You could even say your boots are often more important than the skis themselves.
Whatever your discipline or level, a badly adapted ski boot can ruin your day. To make the most of your skiing sessions, it is important to feel good in your boots. Don’t hesitate to take a tour of the bootfitting area of our ski rental shops.
Indeed, the bootfitting adapts the shoe to your foot and not the reverse. This adjustment will then optimize your comfort, while eliminating the pain.
The feet morphology
All feet are different. A ski boot can be perfect for one person and disastrous for another. Therefore, you must trust in your own opinion of comfort.
During your foot analysis, our bootfitter will observe your morphology. They will determine if your foot is hollow, flat, sagging, pronator, supinator or universal.
When this analysis is complete, we will be able to determine the type of sole that suits you.
A perfectly adapted sole
For perfect placement and alignment in the boot, use thermoformable insoles. With this technique, your foot will be properly stabilized, to bring you more precision and feeling.
All professional competitors use insoles. These are too often neglected in recreational skiing while they maximize comfort.
A perfectly adapted insole will limit the movement of the foot in the boot, reposition the foot during flexion to eliminate ankle pain and distribute the pressures over the surface to avoid overpressure.
Choosing the shell of your ski boots
You should also pay attention to the shell of the ski boot. When this plastic outer is too narrow, the bootfitting can heat the shell to deform and in largen it with heat. It is much easier to enlarge a shell, than to tighten it.
This step will shape the shoe to the specifics of your foot.
A tailored inner shoe for ski boots
The last part of the bootfitting is to modify the inner boot. You can opt for a thermoformable or injected inner boot. As for the soles this last part will allow to appreciate a 100% tailor-made ski boot.
Finally, bootfitting is not reserved for the most technical skiers. From the beginner to the expert, everyone can enjoy it, in order to ski in the best conditions.
