The resort-village of Sauze d'Oulx is located in the Piedmont region of Italy, just a few kilometres from the Fréjus tunnel. It is part of the Franco-Italian Milky Way ski area (Vialattea) and hosted the freestyle skiing events at the Turin 2006 Olympic Games. Situated at an altitude of 2,000m, Sportinia lies just above and is the intermediate resort between Sauze and Sestrière. It is the starting point for the 400km of skiing on the Milky Way.
