Méribel and the Vallée des Allues was discovered then exploited in 1936 by a Scottish major Peter Lindsey who built the very first ski lift. This aristocrat was seduced by the wide open spaces and the wooded landscape of this destination. To magnify the place, he decided to have buildings built while respecting the harmony of the Savoyard style. Today, the village of Méribel has kept all its charm and authenticity thanks to the aesthetic guidelines of the time. During the tourist development of the resort in the 70s, the architectural specificity of Méribel has always been respected. Grouping 15 villages, each building was erected with specific materials, such as slate or stone.
