The ski resort of Avoriaz is the jewel at the heart of the Portes de Soleil ski area; benefitting from a south facing aspect and an altitude of 1800m above sea level, it is both chic and sporty. Futuristic architecture, keeps Avoriaz a model of urbanism and conviviality and everyone who visits comes back year after year. The centre of the resort is notoriously car free; you can walk, ski or travel by horse-drawn carriages drawn by Jura horses in complete safety. It was the first French ski resort to be heated exclusively by electricity and not by oil to reduce the impact on the environment.
AVORIAZ SKI DOMAIN
Avoriaz is a family resort (holder of the World Snow Award) and offers a huge range of different skiing experiences; from fir trees in Lindarets, to family skiing in Fornet; or the Vorlaz and Mossette peaks, to the top of the Grandes Combes gondola.
Avoriaz is part of the huge Portes de Soleil ski area. The area offers safe, fun, natural pistes, spread out over valleys in both France and Switzerland. Here, you can ski all week long on groomed pistes without having to ski the same piste twice, regardless of your skiing level. For the little ones, the children's village is perfect for playful and quality learning. For older children and teenagers, there are numerous snowparks spread out over the whole area (stash, kid’s parkway, snowcross ....). The area benefits from slopes for all levels, but also a multitude of other activities: rock concerts on the slopes, jazz in restaurants, illuminations ... And for those of you who like to relax, don’t forget the aquatic center "Aquariaz", the village Igloo and multiple Spas.
